Winemakers were optimistic about overall vintage quality, but were predicting lower than average yields. The year began with abundant rainfall. Spring weather was mild, resulting in extended flowering in some areas with little shatter. Onces grapes were harvested they were matured for 18 months in 50% new French oak and in 50% neutral French oak.
