Indigenous yeasts have fermented this wine in a traditional wooden barrel called ‘Mosel Fuder’. Characterised by structure, power and density, aromas of pink grapefruit and other citrus join the flavour profile. Due to the full-bodied style and the well-balanced acidity, Laurentiuslay GG is a wine to store for a couple of years or to pair with high quality, complex dishes.
Founded in 1947, Nik Weis – St. Urbans-Hof has become one of the most important and classic wineries in the Mosel region. Since 2000, the Riesling winery is member of Germany’s renowned VDP (Association of German Quality Wine Estates). The approximately 45 hectares of vineyards stretch for around 60 km along the Mosel and Saar rivers and are cultivated in a traditional manner in harmony with nature. Five of the prestigious individual crus, in which world-class Rieslings grow, are classified as Wines from great Sites (VDP.Grosse Lage). The wines are fermented exclusively with indigenous yeasts.
Our Piesporter Goldtröpfchen property is of ancient, unreconstructed origin located close to the slate Mosel Loreley cliffs. These parcels are located in a poorly accessible section of the vineyard which has forced, unlike most of this famous vineyard, an inability to have its orientation altered by modern methods. Only a narrow path allows access. Its ungrafted vines are of unknown age but we are sure they’re at least 80 years old. The highly decomposed slate soil has a high water retentive capacity and the large slate cliffs absorb the heat of the sun only to release it in the dark of night like a thermal battery.
Pairs well with veal, seafood, poultry, pasta or risotto dishes.
