Ross Family Rattlesnake Hills Merlot 2016

Washington Rattlesnake Hills United States North America
Tasing Notes

Vintage Notes: A drastic rebound from the drought conditions of the|previous year, the weather conditions in the Yakima Valley in 2016 were|nearly perfect for grape ripening. Stored energy in the plants as well as|optimal conditions for growth led to heavy crop loads throughout the valley.|The increased fruit load somewhat delayed overall ripening and heavier than|normal autumn rains as well as decreasing levels of tartaric and malic acid in|the grapes led growers to chose picking days carefully for an optimal harvest.||Tasting Notes: Intense garnet in color. Dark pie cherry and floral (think|Violets) aromas dominate the bouquet, while the palate offers lively Bing|cherry and juicy blackberry flavors with notes of vanilla and cardamom. Shows|a nice balance of alcohol and supple and smooth tannins. A moderate finish|with surprising lenght for this reliable Bordeaux variety.||Food Matches: Cassaroles and braised meats go well with this well|balanced wine. Beef Bourgongne, or grilled poultry with heavy rich sauces|are great pairings. It also pairs nicely with aromatic cheeses and your favorite|charcuterie.||Varieties: 97% Estate Merlot, 3% Petite Sirah|Oak: 100% Neutral Oak Barrels|Cases Produced: Total Production: 300 cases (12×750 mL)
