The 2021 Barbera d’Alba Superiore Gepin is deep, flavorful with tons of character. It emerges from the Cottà cru, where the wines are naturally rich and creamy. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, leather and incense all open nicely. A year of aging in cask adds structure. What I like most about the 2021 is the combination of fruit intensity and depth, but in the restrained, classic style that is the norm here these days.

The Estate

Angelo Rocca is committed to quality in his winery, and his vineyards. For generations his family has grown grapes in the hills of Barbaresco, starting at the turn of the 20th century. Today Angelo continues to work in the vineyards as well as the cellar. He seeks balance and harmony in combining traditional techniques and modern technologies.

Wine Making

Matured for at least 12 months in German and Austrian oak casks.  These Barbera grapes coming from the oldest vineyards, to give the Barbera d’Alba Superiore intense complexity and decisive longevity.

Food Suggestions

Pairs well with pasta with meat sauce and medium seasoned cheese.
